CIAD Commercial Center is a mixed-use building with a rich variety of niches, heights, and diameters that balance lightness and solidity. In addition, it offers generous public spaces, both for people circulating inside and around the buildings.

The main concept combines exclusivity with a playful and unpretentious touch. On the ground floor, there are restau- rants and shops open to the public. On the upper floors, offices, with sweeping views, are positioned behind the sunshades.

CIAD SHOPPING CENTER

Year: 2022 Location: Nampula, Mozambique

Located in the coastal area, the project for this house is composed of three volumes of different heights interconnect- ed by structural walls. The main volume houses the common areas, kitchen and living room. The other secondary volumes comprise the Suite, secondary bedroom, and a common bathroom. Our aim was to meet the client's main request, who, among other demands, wanted an accessible penthouse to better enjoy the sea.

MIRROR HOUSE

Year: 2024 Location: Nampula, Mussoril

The owners' desire was to differentiate two zones in the house: the domestic area, where daily family life should take place; and a secondary area, quiet and isolated from the first, functionally independent to be used indistinctly as a living room or to receive occa- sional guests, as well as to organize meals and meet- ings.

The first floor living room has a double-height volume that spatially connects the various levels of the house. A meticulously carved staircase connects all floors. The articulated openings of the façade establish a new visual relationship with the city.

LENCASTRE’s HOUSE

Year: 2021 Location: Maputo, Costa do Sol

The upper levels are home to private areas, including bedrooms and workspaces. Each level is oriented to take full advantage of the panoramic views and sunlight, contributing to a serene and stimulating environment.

The interior of the lot is dedicated to a multi-functional space that can adapt to various needs, such as recre- ational or work areas. This level benefits from abundant natural light, beautiful views of the pool, and some native vegetation of the region.

This was a remodeling project for one of the houses in Vila Intaka, which is located in an urban area of condominiums, in which the properties are delivered to clients without any type of fencing, with only a separating element in masonry that does not exceed 60 cm. This way, it is possible for the client to make changes later.

As suggested by the client, to solve the entire program, we developed a fencing project where people could have direct visual contact with the outside, even when they were in more internal areas of the house. This avoids isolation and facilitates meetings between residents with greater objectivity.

INTAKA PROJECT

Year: 2023 Location: Maputo, Intaka Village

To implement new external support areas, a reinforced concrete slab roof was added to the existing building, and the program was organized so that the collective spaces, service and leisure areas, would have a connec- tion with the larger views of the exterior and greater intensity of light. The more intimate rooms and settings were positioned at the back of the building.

The proposed solution takes the form of a single-story building that seeks to hide from the view of passersby and only make an impact when they get close enough. The result is a building with a striking exterior and a sober interior.

Among different strategies, active or passive, the incorporation of solar energy is one of the solutions incorporated into the building. Including sustainability strategies within the project is not just a trend, it is a necessity. We are increasingly aware of the importance of treating natural resources responsibly, as well as understanding the climatic factors involved in the design of a project.

JIKA JIKA OFFICES

Year: 2022 Location: Maputo, Matola

The project also explores the use of advanced technolo- gies and energy efficiency strategies, aiming to create a healthy and sustainable environment for students and contribute to a more enriching and satisfying academic experience.

The personal space of the dormitories is fully acces- sible to people with physical disabilities, inhabited by one student each, and has the appropriate equipment to comfortably carry out their activities: a single bed, a study area with tables, and cabinets.

The shared kitchen is fully equipped, and the study areas, patios, and common rooms are places where the exchange and coexistence that give life to this typology takes place.
