THE MOST COMMON CAR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

  • Car electrical systems can be complex and prone to malfunctions. Some of the most common car electrical problems are:
  • Dead battery: When the car won't start and there is no power, the problem is often a dead battery. This can be caused by leaving lights on or simply due to the age of the battery. COMMON PROBLEMS:
  • Sulfation,
  • Wear
  • Deep cycles
    • Overload.
  • Insufficient charge SOLUTION The car battery should be replaced once every few years. Most batteries become unreliable once they are five or six years old. It is important to replace your car battery quickly once you notice that it is starting to fail. Otherwise, the failed battery may damage other parts and systems.
  • (^) DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR:
  • (^) The alternator is responsible for generating electricity
while the car's engine is running. It supplies energy to
the battery and powers the different electrical systems
of the vehicle. If the alternator fails, it can cause a series
of electrical problems.
  • (^) We must pay attention to signs such as dim lights,
difficulty starting the engine, constantly discharged
battery or problems with the car's electrical systems.
COMMON PROBLEMS:
  • (^) Dead battery, overcharging or overheating, unusual
headlight operation. Difficulty starting the car.
SOLUTION
  • (^) We should verify that the transmission belt is in good
condition and correctly adjusted.
  • (^) Check the wiring and electrical connections of the
alternator.
  • (^) Check the voltage regulator.
WIRING IN POOR CONDITION:
  • (^) Faulty or bad wiring is another common electrical fault in cars. Wear, exposure to high temperatures, corrosion or rodent damage can affect the integrity of electrical cables, which can result in short circuits, system malfunctions or even serious failures. SOLUTION
  • You should check the cable connection: Make sure all cables are connected correctly and are not loose or damaged.
  • Check the continuity of the cables: Use a continuity meter to verify that there are no breaks in the cables, which could cause failures in the electrical system.
  • Check ground connections: Ensure that all ground connections are securely connected and are not corroded or damaged.
  • Inspect connectors and terminals: Check that connectors and terminals are clean and in good condition to ensure proper connection
  • (^) SPARK PLUGS IN BAD CONDITION:
  • (^) Spark plugs are elongated pieces found inside the
engine cylinders, and their mission is to generate an
electrical spark that produces an explosion in a
combustion engine when fuel and air mix.
SOLUTION
  • (^) If you have problems with the spark plugs you should
follow the following tips
  • (^) Check if the spark plugs are dirty or worn. If so, it is
best to replace them with new ones.
  • (^) Make sure the spark plugs are properly adjusted,
neither too tight nor too loose.
  • (^) Check the spark plug wires to make sure they are in
good condition and connected correctly
IGNITION COIL FAILURE:
  • (^) When the ignition coil is not working properly, it does not send enough voltage to the spark plugs, leading to incomplete combustion. This leaves unused fuel, which then exits through the exhaust pipe.
  • (^) Sometimes this unused fuel explodes before it can escape and causes great damage to the system in the long run. Another cause of this problem could be that the spark plugs are not working properly.
  • A clear sign that this is happening is when your car starts blowing black smoke. You can also identify this by a strong smell of gasoline, or fire coming from the exhaust pipe due to random explosions. SOLUTION
  • (^) To solve these problems with the ignition coils, it is advisable to perform a complete diagnosis of the ignition system to identify the cause of the failure. If necessary, replace defective coils with new quality ones and ensure that the system is properly adjusted and working properly. If you do not have experience in repairing ignition coils, it is recommended to go to a specialized mechanic to carry out the repair properly.
