Questions:
1. Comparation
a) A and C
A and C are similar in loudness level (= 10 phons in both cases), although C is higher in
amplitude/sound preassure level (= aprox. 30 dB) than A
(= aprox. 20 dB).
It is likely that we perceive A higher in pitch than C, because C has a frequency (= aprox. 100
Hz) lower than A (= aprox. 200 Hz).
b) B and E
B and E are different in loudness level (B = 10 phons ; E = 70 phons) and they are also different
in amplitude level (B = aprox. 5 dB ; E = aprox. 60 dB).
However, it is likely that we perceive both of them equal in pitch because B and E are similar in
frequency (= aprox. 3000 Hz).
c) C and D
C and D are different in loudness level (C = 10 phons ; D = 40 phons) and they are also different
in amplitude level (C = aprox. 30 dB ; D = aprox. 40 dB).
It is likely that we perceive D higher ir pitch than C because they are also different in frequency
(C = aprox. 100 Hz ; D = aprox. 500 Hz).
2. Threshold
a) 100 Hz-tone
Threshold of aproximately 25 dB.
b) 5.000 Hz-tone
Threshold of aproximately -5 dB.
c) 10.000 Hz-tone
Threshold of aproximately 15 dB.
3. Minimum Level
a) 30 Hz-tone
Aprox. = 70 dB.
b) 500 Hz-tone
Aprox. = 9 dB.
c) 1.000 Hz-tone
Aprox. = 5 dB.
4. Ability to hear at 100 Hz-tone with 20 dB
We are not able to hear at 100 Hz-tone with 20 dB because is above our threshold.
However, we would be able to hear at 100 Hz-tone with 30 dB or at aprox. 300 Hz-tone with 20
dB.
