Yasir Qadhi

Yasir Qadhi is a lecturer and Islamic orator who has authored several books about Islam. He is a popular speaker in many Muslim circles in the United States, Canada, England and Australia. He was born in Houston, Texas, went to high school in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and graduated with a BSc in chemical engineering from the University of Houston. He pursued an education in Islamic studies, and left for the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia. There, he completed a second bachelor’s degree, specializing in hadith studies, and then went on to complete an MA in Islamic theology. After the horrific events of 9/11, he decided to return to America, and completed a PhD in Islamic Studies from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Currently, he is an associate professor of religious studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, the dean of academic affairs of Al-Maghrib Institute, and the resident scholar of the Memphis Islamic Center.

Omar Suleiman

Omar Suleiman is the President of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research and teaches Islamic Studies at Southern Methodist University. Shaykh founded the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research, which is a think tank that focuses on instilling conviction based on Islamic texts, and producing contribution. He also founded M.U.H.S.E.N (Muslims Understanding and Helping Special Education Needs), a nonprofit umbrella organization serving the community to establish a more inclusive “Special Friendly” environment for our Brothers & Sisters of all Disabilities. He has taught Islamic Studies at the university level since 2008 with Mishkah University, Al Maghrib Institute, Bayyinah Institute, and the Islamic Seminary of America. In media, he’s one of the creators of the internationally acclaimed “Inspiration Series” which has reached millions of Muslims and Non Muslims through YouTube and Islamic Television stations worldwide. He’s also known for his series on Quran weekly as well as his contributions to Hadith of the Day.

Nouman Ali Khan

Nouman Ali Khan was recently listed among the top 500 most influential Muslims in the world. He is the CEO of Bayyinah Institute, which furthers the cause of Qur'an awareness and Arabic education throughout the world. With several million followers in social media, Ustadh Nouman continues to leverage his world- wide reach to promote a better understanding of the Qur'an based on rigorous research, yet easy to understand language. He has already completed a video translation of the entire Qur'an, and is dedicated to completing an exhaustive tafsir over the next few years.

Mehdi Hasan

Mehdi Hasan is an award-winning British journalist, broadcaster, author and political commentator. He is the presenter of both UpFront (filmed in Washington DC) and Head to Head (filmed at the Oxford Union). He moved to Al Jazeera from the Huffington Post UK where he was political director. He has been named one of the 100 'most influential' Britons on Twitter, and was included in the annual global list of “The 500 Most Influential Muslims” in the world. Mehdi is the author of two books.

Azhar Azeez

Azhar Azeez was born in Hyderabad, India and moved to the U.S. in 1995. He has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Osmania University, an MBA, and is currently pursuing his PhD in Islamic studies. He currently serves as the Senior National Director of Islamic Relief USA – one of the largest Muslim charities in the world. Azhar Azeez is the president of ISNA, has served as member of ISNA Executive Council since 2002, and was elected as the Vice President of ISNA in 2010 & 2012. Azhar Azeez is the past president of the North Texas Islamic Council, and is the founder and the past president of the Islamic Association of Carrolton. He is a public and a motivational speaker who travels regularly around the U.S. for various local, regional and national Islamic organizations.

Altaf Husain

Altaf Husain is a native of Cleveland, Ohio; and a double alumnus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, having earned his BSc in biomedical engineering and his MS in social work. He received his PhD in social work from Howard University in Washington, DC. Dr. Husain's research interests include the mental health and integration of immigrant and refugee families, and especially Muslim adolescents, in the United States. He serves as the vice president of ISNA, member of the board of directors of MSA National, and an advisory board member of the Peaceful Families Project- dedicated to the prevention of domestic violence. His past service to the community includes serving as a two-term national president of the MSA and an executive committee member of the Muslim Alliance in North America. Dr. Husain and his family reside in Northern Virginia.

Dalia Mogahed

Dalia Mogahed is the director of research at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding. Mogahed is former executive director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies. She coauthored the book Who Speaks for Islam? What a Billion Muslims Really Think , with John L. Esposito. President Barack Obama appointed Mogahed to the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships in

She was invited to testify before the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations about US engagement with Muslim communities, and she provided significant contributions to the Homeland Security Advisory Council’s Countering Violent Extremism Working Group recommendations. She is a frequent expert commentator in global media outlets and international forums. She is also the CEO of Mogahed Consulting.

Yasmin Mogahed

Yasmin Mogahed received her B.S. Degree in Psychology and her Masters in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. After completing her graduate work, she taught Islamic Studies and served as the Sisters’ Youth Director for the Islamic Society of Milwaukee. She also worked as a writing instructor for Cardinal Stritch University, and a staff columnist for the Islam section of InFocus News. Currently she’s an independent media consultant, a writer for the Huffington Post, and an author for Suhaibwebb.com, where she focuses most of her work on spiritual and personal development. Her written works, including a book chapter on the portrayal of Islam post-911, have appeared in print and online publications worldwide.

Muzammil Siddiqi

Muzammil Siddiqi received his BA in Islamic and Arabic studies from the Islamic University of Medina, Saudi Arabia and later went on to complete a degree in comparative religion at Harvard University. Since 1981, he has served as the director of the Islamic Society of Orange County in Garden Grove, California. He is the chairman of the Fiqh Council of North America. Internationally, he is a member of the executive board of the International Assembly of the Council of Ulama’ in Makkah; a member of the Supreme Islamic Council of Egypt and the Supreme Council of Mosques in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. In October 2011, he was invited by Pope Benedict XVI to join him and many other religious leaders of the world in a pilgrimage of peace. Dr. Siddiqi served as the president of ISNA from 1996 – 2000, and is a current member of ISNA’s Majlis Ash-Shura.

Abdalla Idris Ali

Abdalla Idris Ali served as imam and director, and founded the first full-time Islamic school in Toronto, Canada. He served as the principal of ISNA Islamic Community School for 17 years. He also served on ISNA's Executive Council, Majlis Ash-Shura, Youth and Education Committee and as president of ISNA for two terms. He is the chair of the Islamic Media Foundation, a member of NAIT Board, a founding member of CISNA, and chair of ISNA Education Forum. Sheikh Abdalla was appointed director for CIENA in Kansas City, Missouri. He served on the board of trustees of IBERR, which serves minority communities. He is currently working as the executive director of ISNA Canada.

Ameena Jandali

Ameena Jandali is a founding member and content director at Islamic Networks Group (ING) where she co-designs and develops ING’s educational presentations and cultural competency seminars. Through ING, Ameena has delivered hundreds of presentations in schools, colleges, universities, churches, and other venues on Islam and related subjects. She has also appeared on many news outlets, speaking on issues relating to American Muslims. Ameena team teaches a class on Islam at San Francisco City College. She received her MA in Near Eastern studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and BA in history from the University of Illinois.

Rami Nashishibi

Rami Nashashibi has served as the Executive Director of the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) since its incorporation as a nonprofit in January 1997. He has a PhD in sociology from the University of Chicago and has been an adjunct professor at various colleges and universities across the Chicagoland area, where he has taught a range of sociology, anthropology, and other social science courses. Rami has lectured across the world on a range of topics related to American Muslim identity, community activism and social justice issues, and is a recipient of several prestigious community service and organizing honors.

Mujahid Fletcher

Jaime “Mujahid” Fletcher is originally from Colombia, South America and migrated at the early age of 8 to Houston, TX. He graduated with Honors in the field of Interactive Media & Film from The Art Institute of Houston. Mujahid founded IslamInSpanish ; a pioneering-educational non-profit organization dedicated to producing Spanish Multimedia to Educate Latinos about Islam. Mujahid Fletcher is a Filmmaker and long-standing member of NALIP (National Association of Latino Independent Producers) in Hollywood; an Entrepreneur as Owner and CEO of his own award- winning advertising agency “FocusPoint Studios.” A youth advocate and founder of the Andalucia Media Arts Center , a one of a kind production studio.

Nihad Awad

Nihad Awad is the Executive Director and co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the largest non-profit Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States. In 1997, Mr. Awad served on Vice President Al Gore’s Civil Rights Advisory Panel to the White House Commission on Aviation Safety and Security. In 2004 he was named one of National Journal’s more than 100 Most Influential People in the US. Mr. Awad is a regular participant in the U.S. Department of State’s “International Visitors Program” which welcomes foreign dignitaries, journalists and academics who are currently visiting the President of the United States. Mr. Awad has testified before both houses of the U.S. Congress on matters involving Muslims in America. He is a member of the United States Institute of Peace’s Advisory Committee on US-Muslim Relations and currently enjoys the position of U.S. Representative of the Vatican-affiliated International Committee on Muslim Christian (Catholic) Dialogue.

Hassan Shibli

Hassan graduated Magna Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a degree in Political Science concentrating on International Relations. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in December 2011. Additionally, Hassan was admitted to practice in Florida’s federal courts in April 2012. He interned with the New York Civil Liberties Union and has written opinions for two New York Supreme Court Judges. In Western New York, Hassan has worked with various legal organizations including Muslim Advocates, National Lawyers Guild, Erie County Bar Association and Erie County Family Court, to help develop programs that protect the Civil Rights of all Americans, and help the American Muslim Community integrate and contribute to America. He runs a successful academic publishing company focusing on the traditional Islamic sciences, and is the founder of the Center for American Muslim Understanding and Chief Executive Director of CAIR Florida.
