THE SENDAI FRAMEWORK FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION
THE 4 PRIORITIES FOR ACTION
PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT ACTION
PERSONAL RESPONSE FOR ACTION
Understanding Disaster Risk
The Philippine Government has made significant
strides in the implementation of Disaster Risk
Reduction planning and activities through the
development of the National Disaster Risk Reduction
and Management Council which acts as the lead
agency for DRR in the Philippines.
As a youth, I am obliged to be fully aware about disaster
risk. No one is expected to be untouchable by Disaster.
Furthermore, I have to be at least aware for its range
which definitely have been risking many lives for so long.
As individuals, we are obliged to be knowledgeable about
policies and practices for disaster risk management.
Strengthening Disaster Risk
Governance
The National Resilience Council is pursuing a disaster
and climate resilient Philippines by strengthening the
country’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience
capacities through its Local Government Units, in close
collaboration with the government, private sector,
academe, scientific community and civil society.
I know the Government is taking their part on addressing
Disaster Risk therefore I have to do my part too. It means
I have to cooperate with their plans, it is the least we can
do. Also, by cooperating we should be able to suggest
plans and encourage our Government to execute better
actions.
Investing in Disaster Risk
Resilience
Sustaining mechanisms such as making DRR a regular
budgeted item, strengthening private-public
partnerships, creating incentives for disaster risk
reducing behavior, instilling risk awareness at all levels
There is still something we can invest to Disaster Risk
Resilience. We can actually invest time and man power, it
makes the plans work. The action plan prepared b our
Government will only be possible when people will commit
to it.

Importance of Disaster preparedness At the core of these interventions is the National Climate Change Action Plan and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan, which were established to systematically integrate the various disaster risk management and climate change adaptation activities, coordination, and financing mechanisms of the government.
