Below is the definition of sociology according to sociologists, namely as
follows:
Selo Sumardjan and Soelaeman Soemardi
In his book entitled A Flower of Sociology; Sociology as the science
of society studies social structure, namely the entire social
relationship between the main social elements, such as social
rules, groups and social layers. Sociology also studies social
processes, namely the reciprocal influence between various
aspects of life together. Examples of the reciprocal relationship
between religious life and political life, the reciprocal relationship
between religious life and aspects of economic life.

1. 2. Benefits of Sociology - Increase knowledge about social diversity and cultural diversity involving value systems and norms, customs, arts and other cultural elements. By studying sociology, we will gain knowledge about the various social characteristics of individuals and groups of individuals in society. - Sociology has the benefit of fostering people's sensitivity to social tolerance in everyday life, so that a society that understands each other will be created. - By studying sociology, we can see clearly ourselves both as individuals and members of society. - Sociology helps every society about our place in other unknown societies and cultures.

  • Sociology helps people to gain knowledge about various forms of social interaction.
  • Sociology helps society to control and control actions and behavior in every social interaction.
  • Sociology is also expected to be able to make people better understand the norms, traditions, beliefs and values held by other communities and be able to understand the differences between money in society.

3. Conclusion The term sociology was first coined by a French philosopher named Auguste Comte in his book Cours de la Philosovie Positive. The person known as the father of sociology said that sociologists are the science of society. The word sociology actually comes from Latin, namely 'socius' which means friend or friend and 'logos' which means science. Sociology is a science that studies the network of relationships between humans in society. Meanwhile, broadly speaking, sociology is the science of society, where sociology studies society as a complex of forces, relationships, interaction networks, and as a complex of institutions/organizers.
