Point of Sale (POS) Checkout Process, Cheat Sheet of Computer Applications

The main success scenario and extensions for a point-of-sale (pos) checkout process. It describes the steps involved in a customer purchasing goods or services, including the cashier entering item identifiers, the system recording sale line items and calculating the total cost with taxes, handling the payment, and providing the customer with a receipt. The document also covers alternative flows, such as paying by cash, where the cashier enters the cash amount tendered, the system presents the balance due, and the cashier deposits the cash and returns any balance to the customer. The goal is to provide a successful purchase experience for the customer by efficiently and accurately recording the items being purchased, calculating the total cost, handling the payment, and providing the customer with a receipt.
