MATERIALS:
Prepare the following materials for this exercise:
7 glass vials, cups, or bottles or any suitable transparent container
Measuring instrument (Syringe, measuring cups, measuring spoons, etc.)
Any colored liquid of your choice (this is equivalent to your specimen)
Water
PROCEDURES:
Perform the following procedures step-by-step:
Remember that we will be following the 9:1 principle, wherein there will be 9 parts water and 1 part
"specimen".
1. Obtain 7 glass vials/ bottles and label them #1-7.
2. Add 9 parts of water to containers #1-7.
3. Add 1 part of the colored liquid to vial #1 and mix.
4. Transfer 1 part from vial #1 to vial #2, mix.
5. Transfer 1 part from vial #2 to vial #3, mix.
6. Transfer 1 part from vial #3 to vial #4, mix.
7. Transfer 1 part from vial #4 to vial #5, mix.
8. Transfer 1 part from vial #5 to vial #6, mix.
9. Transfer 1 part from vial #6 to vial #7, mix.
Note: Make sure your measuring instrument is clean aer and for every transfer.
