Give the dimensions of the badminton posts and explain how the posts should be prescribed Described a badminton racket Enumerate important considerations in to choice of a racket Mention the specifications of a badminton shuttlecock Concept notes: Badminton demands little in the way of equipment, court space, proper attire and footwear. This is the reason why badminton is becoming more popular among students as their main sport and more and more adults are taking it up as their recreational activity.
An official badminton court is 44. It is divided into two equal halves by a net. The width of the court for singles is 17 feet; the doubles court width is 20 feet. Lines 1 ½ in. wide and included within the overall dimensions of the court, are marked in easily distinguishable color like white or yellow. Long service lines for doubles are 2 ft 6in. in front of the backline. Short service lines are 15ft 6im, in front of the back lines and 13ft apart. Side lines for singles are ift 6in. inside of the side lines for doubles. The Net is stretch across the center of the court. It measures 2ft 6in, deep and made of dark- colored, natural cord or artificial fiber with a mesh size of 5/8-3/4 in. It is supported by a cord which is threaded through doubled white tape at the top of the net and strained over and flush with the top of two posts. The top of the net should be 5ft above the floor at the center and 5ft 2 in above the floor at the posts. The Posts must be 5ft 1in. high and firm enough to keep the net taut. Where possible they should be positioned on the boundary lines. If the posts are positioned outside the court area,
an antennae measuring 1 Vs wide should be fixed and rise vertically to the upper edge of the net.

The measurement of a racket is as follows: The frame should not the longer than 680 mm (2ft 2.14 in.) or wider than 230mm (9in).
