HEPATITIS
• Hepatitis is caused by the Hepatitis virus that infects Hepatocytes of the liver
• There are many different types of Hepatitis. They vary in severity of the disease and mode of
transmission.
HEPATITIS: SYMPTOMS
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Weight loss • Jaundice
• Fatigue
HEPATITIS: TREATMENT
● Replacing fluids lost through dehydration or vomiting and diarrhea
● Rest
● Alpha-interferon may improve course of disease
HEPATITIS SCREENING PANEL
● Tests for Hepatitis Antigens or Antibodies
● If patient tests positive for a Hepatitis Ag, they have the disease or they are a carrier
● If a patient tests positive for a Hepatitis Ab, they have been exposed to the virus or
● Billirubin tests can be used
