Assess How Our Team Management Systems Are Changing, Reflected In Core Values, To Improve Growth Of Collective Knowledge: TOOLKIT 14-Team is doing an excellent job at doing well on the toolkits. Responsibility of team members is improving. Information is posted when it is supposed to be. Team communication is getting better as the course moves on. TOOLKIT 13- Our team is getting closer and closer to each other as each toolkit passes. Our communication skills are becoming amazing and we are able to make sure each team member fully understands what they have to do on each toolkit. We are truly becoming a team and not just a group of people who have to meet two times a week. Our toolkits show how well our group has progressed and is continuing to progress. TOOLKIT 15- I think that we have all seen what networking can do for us as a team. But now I think that we are anxious to put it to work for us in the real work force. Assess Team Use Of Toolkit Principles Of Data, Documentation And Synchronous Leadership To Improve Performance And Learning Ongoing: TOOLKIT 14-Team is using the information effectively to answer and develop questions needed for the RCA and SDA tables. Synchronous leadership is continuing to improve as more become comfortable with the tools. TOOLKIT 13- The team uses the toolkits very well and productive in order to get the exact type of answers we are looking for, for the RCA’s and SDA’s within the toolkit. The way we are assigned certain parts and tables in the toolkits is also a way we make sure we get the important things done. By assigning certain people certain parts be it more or less work we are able to make sure we get the things needed to be done, done on time. Our leadership skills are amazing, Ericka and Brad do a great job of assigning things to certain people in a certain order which in vindictive of those peoples work skills. TOOLKIT 15- If we are to use it later in our lives in the work force, we'll need to keep up with new networking technologies.
Objective: RRAA enables a summary and synthesis each toolkit lecture, demonstrated as key information and relationships. One or more persons do the actual RRAA, but all others should also read the lecture and complete the assessment issues for chat in

Assignment: Toolkits, 13,14,
Date: 5/6/
Person (s) Doing: Kerry Koontz
Team: 2 Information Source In Bibliographic Form: Sinn, Dr. John W. “Core Technological Values and Foundational Cultural Definitions.” Industrial Technologists’Toolkit for Technical Management. Abstract Of Key Information (usually approximately 300-500 words): TOOLKIT # Technology encompasses many aspects that we as humans relate to on a daily basis. One of these values is cultural tools in which activities are systematically delegated out and activities are hence coordinated into an entire program which expects people at all levels to participate equally in order to succeed in production. Kaizen is known as continuous improvement. Data standards are another value in which standards are set, evaluated, possibly changed, maintained and improved for the future. Documentation tools are a value in which data that has been collected is recorded long term in order to always improve upon it. Synchronous tools are valuable for perceiving that there is a need to build reliability and quality functions in a current production. Combining these, a system is formed without methods of traditional departments.
Improvement is reliant upon a steady state of being dynamic. Kaizen, therefore, is a requirement in order to succeed in keeping up with competition and further continuing to improve. Where technology is involved, working as a team is vital to achieve keeping up and maintaining the changes necessary for remaining competitive in the future. Those who don’t participate have no other choice than to be left out in the cold. Once of the obstacles we face with technology is how to break people out of their current habits and facilitate them into always accepting more knowledge. With an ever-changing technological culture, Kaizen must always anticipate and provide constant improvement.
Technology is defined by change and therefore, we must keep up with our values towards it in order to successfully change with it. We have forced this upon ourselves by our never-ending desire to be satisfied by getting more for less and so that our lifestyles will continue to become more convenient. However, as we employ increasingly more complex technologies into our lives, some feel alienated or rejected by its force upon us. However, the unstoppable drive for convenience has left us lazy as a culture and such, our technological values keep shifting. As its evolution continues, technological devices transpose themselves from luxuries to necessities. Specifically, it has been taken for granted that technology will undeniably solve all of our problems.
This technological culture encourages keeping up with and relentlessly beating out the competition by selling out products. Through technology, improvements have continued to be made to produce better quality at a lower cost. Our values and attitudes and our daily affairs are conducted due to our technological culture. With that, ethical and moral concerns are an issue. Many view technology as less than a positive improvement or beneficial contribution to culture and humankind.
As technology remains with us over time, one thing that is unarguably constant is its value of change. Whether the progress from it proves to be beneficial or not remains to be a discrepancy between many. Data and documentation, therefore, becomes an essential key so that we can assess the past, learn from it, and provide a better future.
Key Technological Concept: Relationship To Project/Technology: Other Information:
Address How This Reading Adds To The Collective Core Knowledge Associated With The Team Project: This reading explains the general characteristics associated with technology being a factor in our lives. With that web conferencing can be analogously related to many of these issues. The introduction of web conferencing is evidence of a continual change in communication that technology brings to us. It, like technology in general, also provides us with more convenience. It produces faster and possibly at less expense than previous methods. It also will provide many negative aspects with its positive advantages. It will affect us psychologically, in that humans will need to adapt to nontraditional methods when they are already used to physically being able to be in the same room with someone in order to communicate. With web conferencing, people will not even ever have to share space with someone else. Along with the generalizations about technology, web conferencing will require the majority of society to adapt to new ideas, accept new culture, and become more knowledgeable about these significant changes. Assessment Question: Will web conferencing leave our society with more benefits or drawbacks?
Assessment Question (Pros) Communication will be more convenient. Business employees will travel significantly less to interact. Instead, they can spend more time with their families. This might move our society forward where family and domestic issues are concerned.
People will be able to see and communicate on a more personal level with their loved ones. They won’t have to physically travel as much.
Key Technological Concept: Relationship To Project/Technology: Other Information:
Address How This Reading Adds To The Collective Core Knowledge Associated With The Team Project: This reading gives our a group a good background on what is expected in each toolkit and how we need to relate technology to our groups focus, which is Web-Conferencing. Assessment Question: How can the uses of web-conferencing help in the event of something like September 11?
Assessment Question (Pro) The only way to communicate during the events of September 11, was via the internet. Web-Conferencing is a web- based program/technology. Web conferencing was one of the ways people could stay in touch and know what was going on in New York.
Assessment Question (Cons) The only problem with web conferencing in an event like this would be the availability of a computer. Now more than ever it is easier to find a computer, but their not everywhere.
Identify/List The Problem Focus And Objectives For Our Team Project (These Can/Should Change/Mature Over Time): How can we use Web-Conferencing to communicate in society?
Abstract Of Key Information (usually approximately 300-500 words): TOOLKIT # The thirteenth toolkit lecture deals with the element of change and how it affects organizations and individuals, both locally and globally. The article deals with the effects that change can have, and ways to deal with it through preparedness and planning. Also covered are tables developed by the author to plan and prepare employees, or members of an organization, for an upcoming change. They also deal with evaluating current systems and what changes are best, or needed. This article reaches out broadly to deal with global topics that do not immediately seem to relate to technology, including use and depletion of natural resources, population, and other environmental concerns. The issue of planning and preparedness is paramount to successful technological change. The infrastructure of our nation is deemed critical to development of new and improvement of existing technologies. The author states that development is dependent on a whole and reasonably effective infrastructure. Also, it brings to light the fact that we must be aware of the way we deal with other cultures, in that we must take care when we try to infuse our culture into another country’s culture. It goes on to make the point that, with global development of new technologies to less developed nations, time must be taken to help these people understand the new technologies, so that the change may be ultimately successful. Key Technological Concept: Relationship To Project/Technology: Other Information:
Address How This Reading Adds To The Collective Core Knowledge Associated With The Team Project: This reading dealt with probably one of the most important issues web conferencing faces, change. We must address, as part of our group project, how change can and does affect web conferencing. This reading gives us and excellent resource to deal with the elements of change as related to any technology, including ours. Identify/List The Problem Focus And Objectives For Our Team Project (These Can/Should Change/Mature Over Time): Team should include in our information some sort of discussion on how change affects our topic.
Abstract Of Key Information (usually approximately 300-500 words): TOOLKIT # There is no denying the fact that web conferencing is going to be a part of our future world. It will be in the business world, home situations, and used for just basic communication needs. As like any other new technology, people are going to be forced to adjust whether they like it or not. Web communication is coming, and is going to be used, but as Dr. Sinn points out… the questions are more of “how will it be used? And to what extent?”
As does any new technology or invention, there have been moral and ethical issues that have arisen concerning web conferencing. This seems to be more of a problem and more of a debate than any other issue concerning the technology. Problems with the software and hardware will easily be overcome with time, but the ethical problems may be around forever. We just have to find a way to function without over stepping the line, but not holding back so much it hurts our society.
How much are we as a society responsible for? Whose fault is it going to be when this new technology is abused by the wrong person? This is yet another problem we will have to face in the future. We have options, but are those options open enough to solve some of the problems we are going to face? It will be easy to get educated about this new technology, but how are we going to ensure that everyone is getting educated?
Another problem we are facing is that there is a divide in technology among our different ethnic groups. It is obvious where the money lies in this country, and along with the money lays the new technologies and advances. We have to make sure that as the society continues to grow in a technological aspect that other groups are not left behind simply because they are unable, financially, to keep up “with the Jones.” We have to make sure that everyone has an equal opportunity to access all of this new coming technology and be able to use it on a functional level. The government is going to have to step in at one point or another to make sure that no one is being left out. I am not sure how this is going to be handled, but without order, we will all be hurt in the long run. Key Technological Concept: Relationship To Project/Technology: Other Information:
Address How This Reading Adds To The Collective Core Knowledge Associated With The Team Project: As we discussed in chat the other night with Dr. Sinn, we are right now one of the leading countries in technology, particularly web-conferencing. But whether we realize it or not, the rest of the world is catching up to us. Assessment Question: How do we make sure that there are not ethnic or racial groups being left behind in the world of constantly changing technologies?
Assessment Question (Pros) Our country will be encouraged to step up and help out those whom cannot help themselves.
Assessment Question (Cons) When do we start worrying about our “own” people more, and letting the others take care of themselves a little more? When are the lagging ones ready to be on their own?
Identify/List The Problem Focus And Objectives For Our Team Project (These Can/Should Change/Mature Over Time): Identify ways our society will ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to use the new technologies out there.
Abstract Of Key Information (usually approximately 300-500 words): TOOLKIT # We started out talking about how our team can become a better communicating team if we just use different methods such as different check-in for homework in order to assure quality and factual information in our work as a team. Also we spoke about how this issue is one which we seem to being doing a pretty good job of but could work on slightly. Than we shifted the conversation to talking about certain people who do not grasp the concepts need to understand the development and push of newer technologies on our society. Dr. Sinn spoke to us how it is up to us to get the technology to the people and make sure they understand it and know how to use it. I f the people do not try to get the knowledge they cannot get it; it is not the problem of the people to get the knowledge in to the peoples heads. It is the job of the people to teach themselves. Also Dr. Sinn spoke about the importance of people grasping the concepts and uses of technology and constantly updating that knowledge by challenging themselves to use the latest technology whenever it is available. The lecture was one, which was extremely interesting and knowledgeable to the entire course as a whole. It was much easier to see why we struggled in the beginning of the course and got so upset when DR. Sinn would just keep telling us it would all make sense. He was right, as we progressed as a class all the technical jargon became clear and our knowledge of technology and its uses in society became even more prevalent. We are now much more understanding of technology and its place in our culture as well as our well being, we are now users rather than lost souls in the technology world.
Key Technological Concept: Relationship To Project/Technology: Other Information:
Address How This Reading Adds To The Collective Core Knowledge Associated With The Team Project: This knowledge of using technology and why it gets used, and who uses it is all very important to our group focus, which is web-conferencing. This is one of the most highly technological aspects the business world has seen in years. Therefore it pertains to our focus greatly. Assessment Question: How will we get more people to actually grasp the concepts of technology and how it changes?
Assessment Question (Pros) We will start teaching more and more people in order to have them teach others they know to get technology heading in a better direction.
Assessment Question (Cons) We cannot force technology onto others it will do nothing more than push them away and make the struggle for technology even more of that, a struggle.
Identify/List The Problem Focus And Objectives For Our Team Project (These Can/Should Change/Mature Over Time): Get the majority of the population understanding of the technology and its uses. Show them how web-conferencing is a huge improvement to our live in many ways. Also get more people to understand how very great the use of technology in all aspects is to us, as a nation.
Ericka Hunter How important is feedback when communicating electronically as a team?
Pros: Feedback is a way for individuals to assess how effective their communication is and therefore, how constructive they are as a group. Cons: Concerning electronic communication, feedback is only fruitful if it falls in with certain elements such as specific timing, specificity and detail, growth and diplomacy, and sensitivity. If any of these elements are lacking, a group could be very unsuccessful. Julie Heuker How are the benefits of web-conferencing becoming a disadvantage to society?
Pros: As technology increases and web conferencing is making the corporate world “easier,” as a whole, it should help out society. It will make things faster for people to do business, as well as bridge gaps that old traditional means left. Cons: Not all of society has the means or knowledge to benefit from web conferencing. Lack of one company’s materials or sources may cause its downfall. Julie Heuker Will Web Conferencing eventually take the place of present day personal conferencing?
Pros: Web conferencing allows people of great distances to relate to one another and share their ideas. No longer do people need to include travel time into their work schedules. Cons: Without personal interaction, ideas and feelings can be lost, causing miscommunication and in the end unhappy clients. Kerry Koontz How can web-conferencing relate to presentations as a communication devise?
Pros: Web-conferencing is a good tool for group meeting and preparation. It takes the next step from internet chat and adds picture and sound allowing for much better communication among group members. This is all can adhere to the group’s presentation outcome. Cons: As a presentation method in particular, web- conferencing may lack the personal touch in a sense. Presenting in person may still hold some value, such as, physical determination among presenters and the persons presenting. Kerry Koontz Is web-conferencing a good example of how new infrastructure issues, team opportunities and challenges are arising?
Pros: This level of technology is helping to improve relationships in the industries. The improvement in communication technology has paved a way for advancements in supplier and consumer relationships, as well as, added to the growth of group efforts and collaborations for the future. Cons: Web-conferencing my or may not be the best improvement to some teams or organizations, based on their size and type. Kirk Heckathorn Would a Standard Operating Procedure for Team Chats improve team efficiency and communication?
Pros: Team, at times, appears disorganized within team chats. Distractions are continuously present and the group is easily led astray from the point at hand. Cons: Course is based on “free-form” communication. Too much procedural practice could be detrimental to team effort and output. Kirk Heckathorn In what ways should the team be preparing to “Move Forward”?
Pros: Assignments will only get larger, thereby increasing the need for better more efficient communication. Cons: Time constraints may leave little room for members to “think ahead” while working on their current assignments. Once again, course is laid out to allow a “free-form/from-home” type of environment. Matt Rhoads Should electronic meetings replace face-to-face conversations in the work place?
Pros: People would be able to attend meetings from anywhere electronically. This would reduce tine constraints and attendance issues. Cons: Some meetings require people to interact with others. The topic of the meeting may require that people brainstorm ideas and concepts and they may need to do this with other communication methods rather than just words. Matt Rhoads Do you develop communication skills through electronic conferencing?
Pros: You never have to be afraid of speaking in front of a large audience. Cons: You never develop any people skills. In the real world you can’t always hide behind your computer. You need to interact with people face to face on a daily basis.
Nicki Dray Does everyone understand how important it is to be at the team chat?
Pros: Yes it’s very important because assignments are handed out, questions are answered and due dates are clarified. Also personal team due dates are given out. It also gives a chance for the team to gather any other random needed information. Cons: It’s important, but not fatal. If you miss a chat session, your requirements can easily be posted onto the forum. And you might have to complete an additional task for missing. Also the worst would be is that you could possibly be lost in our progress that we have taken in the chat session. Ryan Hardy Will actually enforcing penalties upon group members who do not contribute, actually aid in making the team better as a whole?
Pros: Yes it will show them exactly what to expect if they do not contribute and it will also show the importance of the team and the teamwork. Cons: It will push some members even further apart by creating a hierarchy within the team. Ryan Hardy Would chatting more often help the group to be more organized and understanding of each individual’s concerns and worries about each project?
Pros: Yes, chatting will give more time to the individuals and it will also allow for them to fully understand everything about each toolkit. Cons: It will just take more time out of each members schedule and they will then become frustrated and begin to lose care about the team due to its stress upon them. Drew Downey Is the size of an organization using web conferencing a factor? Pros: If the organization is not large enough they may not have the ability or talent top tackle large scale jobs’ or projects. Cons: Too bog then you cannot communicate effectively and as result less work is done at a lower quality. Drew Downey How do listening skills compare to web conferencing rather than person to person?
Pros: Both require close listening in order to have effective communication that includes repeating, questioning, re-hashing, etc. Both these use this and can have effective outcome when used. Cons: Web conferencing takes the personal relationship out of the communication process which can lead to poor listening resulting in poor workmanship. Kerry Koontz Throughout history new technologies in the work place have required changes in management to keep up with the new systems. What effect will the new technology surrounding web-conferencing have on employees in management positions?
Pros: I believe that Web technology is leading toward helping the management professional at multitasking. With web based technologies more things can be getting done at once. The average manager can no be out of town on business, be holding a meeting over the web with members of a branch in a different city, and conference with his team back home all on the same trip. The opportunities are endless.
Cons: This is another technological advancement that new managers must be very familiar with as well as be able to teach to other members of their staff. Kerry Koontz Would the development of communications technology be considered among the most important, given the many other technological advancements that have been made?
Pros: Communication technologies are leading to the advancements in many other fields. The stronger our communications base the stronger our other technologies become. Work and communication with foreign nations keeps us efficient and always striving to improve. The better the communication, the more diversified business becomes.
Cons: Figuring out which technology is the best is like finding which came first… the chicken or the egg. Each technology is intertwined and plays of the one adjacent to it. Kirk Heckathorn Has the lack of personal interaction, in favor of web & email based communication, been detrimental to team performance?
Pros: Allows students to use the technology available to them in their home or work environments. Student is able to work on his/her own schedule without having to attend a traditional classroom setting. Cons: Students who are not disciplined individuals can drag the team down by delaying their toolkit input. Direction for team can be confusing without instructor interaction on a weekly basis.
Ryan Hardy How has web conferencing changed the way business and schooling has operated?
Pros: It has changed these two institutions so much that to go back would be a major drawback. Web conferencing as brought so many different educators to so many more students that in turn has increased knowledge and understanding. Also in businesses the web conferencing has brought together so many different businesses at half of the cost and made changes that have aided and not hurt businesses. Cons: It doesn’t make a huge impact on either of these two it is just a lazier way of interacting rather than actually being one on one with another human. It takes away form the principles of both of these two aspects of society. Ericka Hunter What are the types of physical work that we used to value that no longer exist due to web conferencing?
Pros: Individuals no longer have to travel great distances to meet with their colleagues. Cons: Individuals will no longer feel the need to take the time to have personal relationships with their colleagues by sitting down and talking and making personal commitments. Ericka Hunter How will web conferencing cause changes in the work place? Pros: Employees will more conveniently be able to communicate. They will be spending more time in the office than traveling. Communications will be faster. Cons: Some jobs will be lost due to the advances of technology. Anxiety is generated due to lack of control caused by alienation. Confrontations will evolve due to new and old technology. Julie Heuker Is the improvement in technology of web-conferencing ever going to slow down compared to the “rest of the world.”?
Pros: Web conferencing and other internet features are always changing at a rapid pace. Some say 1 technology year is like 3 real life years. With constant improvements, it will make sure the clients are getting the best use of the system. Cons: If the system of web conferencing is always changing, that means software is also always going to be changing. If the two groups trying to communicate are not on similar systems it may cause a problem. Julie Heuker Will web conferencing eventually take over all person-to- person communication?
Pros: If it ever came to the point that web conferencing would be more widely used that person to person communication, it will save companies tons of money and expenses in traveling as well as time. Cons: It will never be able to totally take over the person- to-person communication. No matter how detailed there will always be explanations that are too complicated to be explained over the internet. Andy Francis Does everyone agree with the Author’s opinion that the automobile was the greatest single contribution to ‘cultural mobility’?
Pros: Automobiles paved the way for a revolution in the way people live their lives. They not only helped to move individuals around faster, they brought the different areas of the country closer together. Cons: Unfortunately, Automobiles have been one of the biggest polluters in our world. Emission standards and alternative energy supplies have not met with much success Andy Francis Does how we use our technology, or what technology we own, make a statement about our values and ethics?
Pros: We sometime use our technologies to aid other people, other cultures. Cons: Technology can have the effect of making our culture seem lazy compared to less advanced cultures. T13 ~ Ryan Hardy
How can we ensure that our toolkits are complete and correct by each due date, with all team members contributing?
Pros: Our team can communicate better and make sure that each member is keeping up with his/her work and by doing so we will make sure the toolkits are exactly how we want them. Cons: By putting too much emphasis on making everything exact we could actually spend too much time on this and the whole focus of the toolkit could be thrown out the window and there fore defeating the purpose of making things exact. T13 ~ Ryan Hardy
Will communication within the team better us for toolkits or in turn create too much time spend on communicating and not enough time on individual work?
Pros: By more communication we will become closer knit and more focused on the problem at hand. Cons: Through excessive communication we will be putting ourselves at risk of not completely the task by ourselves and understanding the toolkits individually.
T13 ~ Bradley Findley
How has Web Conferencing evolved since it was first introduced to society?
Pros: Web Conferencing has become a very useful tool for every business that operates overseas or even across the country. Cons: Web Conferencing can be very expensive if you do not use it often and productively. T13 ~ Bradley Findley
How can the average person benefit from web conferencing? Pros: Regular people who want to communicate with friends or family can use web conferencing to stay in touch with the ones they want to communicate with. Cons: It is only effective if each person communicating has the software/hardware to communicate.
T13 ~ Curt Simon
Are Americans using web conferencing less due to increased airport security?
Pros: Increase in economy. Money will be made by increase in airline flights. Cons: More expensive for companies to do business. T13 ~ Curt Simon
What will web conferencing be like for our children? Pros: More secure, quicker, easier, more personal. Cons: Expensive, dangerous, unhealthy. T13 ~ Ericka Hunter
How is the role of technological advancements in communications in the business world comparative to those of the university world?
Pros: Evolving methods of communication in the collegiate atmosphere are becoming present and being in a university provides an effective means of teaching individuals how to interact and most successfully use electronic communication. Businesses also benefit from being able to effectively provide a means of technological education along with hands-on experience to teach its employees how to remain useful with new technology.
Cons: Universities are hardly selective of their students based on personality types, and therefore, innovative means of technological communication might not always be so successful with all, resulting in making the school look bad. Businesses, on the other hand, can always weed out those who refuse to become nothing but alienated by technology yielding no irreplaceable loss. T13 ~ Ericka Hunter
How does growing technology and electronic communication affect the older generation in the workplace?
Pros: If companies are patient enough to work with their older employees in order to ease them into such technological evolutions in market practices, a company can become exceptionally successful- not only will their older constituents be more valuable with their past experience and knowledge, but they will be even more of an asset with new technological knowledge and applications. Cons: If the older generations choose to become alienated by such technological advancements, they in turn will be run out by the competition. This could propose a very big problem to our society. In addition, companies will have to lose the valuable experience and know-how that only comes with time with their older employees. T13 ~ Julie Heuker
As a result of such events such as the Sept. 11 attacks, will this continue to make web conferencing a more “common” tool for the business world?
Pros: It will help workers and others involved in the business world feel more safe and secure. They are no longer needed to get on 8-hour flights to fly somewhere in order to conduct business with someone. Cons: This will have both positive, and negative results on the world economy. Airline industries will for sure feel the biggest impact from the lessened travel. T13 ~ Julie Heuker
Will things calm down in the web conferencing industry as more time passes from Sept. 11?
Pros: Many people are still very much feeling the everyday effects that the Sept. 11 attacks had on them. Web conferencing will help assure them that they are as safe as they are going to be. They don’t have to worry about flying anywhere. Cons: Things will eventually slow down as a direct result of 9-11, but it will be a slow decline. The memories are still too fresh in everyone’s heads.
T14 ~ Curt Simon
Are companies and individual around the world using web conferencing, or is the United States the only country that has caught on to this technology?
Pros: The United States has seen the benefits of using this form of technology to cut cost of traveling and safety issues. Cons: May be expensive for small business or individuals to purchase computers or the technology to use web conferencing across seas. T14 ~ Curt Simon
What are ways to get others in the community and school involved in web conferencing?
Pros: Publicize the use and benefits of using web conferencing. Could be cheaper for students to communicate with parents or friends away from campus. Educate community members and students on using the new technology. Cons: May be expensive to educate persons on proper ways of using the technology. There may be some who choose not to accept the new form of technology. T14 ~ Julie Heuker
How do we make sure that there are not ethic or racial groups being left behind in the world of constantly changing technologies?
Pros: Our country will be encouraged to step up and help out those whom cannot help themselves. Cons: When do we start worrying about our “own” people more, and letting the others take care of themselves a little more? When are the lagging ones ready to be on their own? T14 ~ Julie Heuker
How much is the government going to have to step in order to make sure that no one is being left behind in the changing world?
Pros: With a set standard or norm, it will help keep everyone in balance with one another. Cons: People don’t like having others tell them what to do and how to do it. They like their freedom that our country’s constitution guarantees them. T14 ~ Ericka Hunter
How does technological advancements affect all members of our diverse society?
Pros: Technology could be used as a tool to bring our diverse culture even closer together. It could be an extra door that leads to more opportunity for current minorities (racial, gender-based, age). With this, it could be a means to bring ‘equality’ even closer to being a reality. Cons: If education on technological advancements is not delegated out equally and in a sensitive manner, it could be even more detrimental to our already divided society. T14 ~ Ericka Hunter
How will electronic meetings and web conferencing play a role with people of all types in the business world?
Pros: Many will have one more opportunity to strengthen their assets in the company. In addition, women will not be so easily held down because of duties to their families or children. With the advantage of web conferencing, they will not so easily be discriminated against when it comes to being a working woman and a family woman. Those who have physical disabilities will find themselves in a much more comfortable position in the business place as well. They will be able to fully function in the market and cater to their needs more easily. Cons: Many, who might be overlooked when it comes to technological education or may be intimidated by technology, might actually sink further down the corporate ladder. This would lead us into an even greater battle regarding diversity, opportunity, and success. T14 ~ Bradley Findley
How has Web Conferencing changed communication over the past two years?
Pros: Web conferencing has allowed the everyday user, as well as the business user to stay in contact with someone else constantly. Cons: The only downfall to web conferencing in the past two years would be the price. It is still rather expensive since it hasn’t become all that popular yet. T14 ~ Bradley Findley
Where will Web Conferencing be in 10 years? Pros: Web Conferencing is something of the future, we don’t really know where it will be in ten years, but things are looking good now. Cons: On one hand, web conferencing could be as popular as cell phones now, but on the other hand, web conferencing could be obsolete in ten years. T14 ~ Kirk Heckathorn
In what ways (positive and negative) will Webconferencing increase diversity among organizations?
Pros: Business dealings and personal interaction with different cultures and countries will become more prevalent. Cons: Different cultures will need to account each other’s practices in business dealings, communication, lifestyles, etc. Possible conflict could result through lack of thorough understanding.

With increased use of Web conferencing, will businesses lose “technological control” over their proprietary and internal information that is streamed over the web?
Pros: Web conferencing will allow faster more efficient opportunities for conducting critical meetings. Cons: The threat of “hackers” and other “techno-thieves” will be omnipresent. If any technology is available for use, there is always an immoral side that will find corrupt use for these new techno-advancements. T14 ~ Drew Downey
Should the government control what is on the web like web conferencing?
Pros: They will help to clean up the filth on the web by making it illegal. This will keep children from seeing things that a young child should not see. Cons: It goes against the freedom of speech if we let them tell us what we can’t type on the web who is to say they won’t stop and make it illegal to speak out against the president. T14 ~ Drew Downey
Is technology like web conferencing morally right or wrong? Pros: Technology allows us the ability to do virtually anything. We often don’t know the true impact that technology makes on our everyday lives. Cons: Technology it self is not wrong but can be wrong when used incorrectly. For example people tend to make decisions under pressure, which makes them use technology in various ways than ever done before. This is what can cause technology to be called morally wrong. T14 ~ Nicki Dray Is advancing third world countries really worth the time and effort, just to “trade off” for resources?
Pros: Yes it is because they helped us with such a basic fundamental in our lives that I think that we should help them. Cons: No, because it really isn’t worth the time. And it’s not even really an even “trade off” in my opinion. T14 ~ Nicki Dray Would helping these third world countries come back to “bit us in the butt” power wise?
Pros: Yes, they could learn even more than we already know and become a world superpower. Cons: Is there really a chance that they would try to dominate those who helped them become into the technological world? T14 ~ Kerry Koontz
How does technology effect religion? Pros: Technology can help us to learn religion by different methods or by different means. Cons: Depending on who you talk to the cons may be much more abundant than the pros. They may include being un moral or ethical, for reasons of using technology in medicine, or “doing gods work,” or not doing prayer in the traditional methods. T14 ~ Kerry Koontz
Should there be economic control over technological products/services?
Pros: Economic control makes it so that not only one group can run away with the business and control the market making prices outrageous. Cons: If there is too much economic control and investors will not provide organizations with capital, then production may be impossible. T14 ~ Ryan Hardy
Will technology, such as web-conferencing be easily accepted by the general public?
Pros: Yes, if the entire population as a whole begins to grasp this technology, then the rest of the population will follow. No one wants to be left behind and lost in his or her own world. Cons: No, if the society doesn’t have a majority backing on issues such as technology and especially web- conferencing it will be very hard to manipulate the rest of the society to hop on and understand it. T14 ~ Ryan Hardy
Does the concept of taking things such as conferencing, to the internet, scare the general population?
Pros: Yes, the population doesn’t want to fully let go of the human interaction; it wants to slowly do it to only certain aspects of life. Cons: It scares the population to a certain point but not enough to stop the public from fully stopping. It has to take time to catch on but it will eventually catch on. T14 ~ Andrew Francis
Should it be the responsibility of the wealthy, technologically advanced nations to aid the less developed nations to grow technologically? Should they do this at their own expense?
Pros: Spreading technology can only bring the world’s population closer together. The improvements in the quality of life worldwide would be well worth the expenses. Cons: Even for many wealthy nations, supporting other nations in this way can be a serious drain on their economic resources.
