Organizational behavior describes how people interact with one another inside of an organization, such as a business. These interactions subsequently influence how the organization itself behaves and how well it performs. For businesses, organizational behavior is used to streamline efficiency, improve productivity, and spark innovation to give firms a competitive edge.

1. What is organizational behavior and why is it important?
With the word “organization”, it consists of people who are working together to achieve a common purpose or goal. On the other hand, “behavior” is the way someone acts or responds to a particular situation. By putting it together, “organizational behavior” is the understanding of how people behave and perform their job inside the organization.
According to Kangal, “Organizational behavior is the systematic study and application of knowledge about how individuals and groups act within the organizations where they work.” It is not just a discipline but a field of study that determines how the different factors like environmental and social affects the way individual, groups and the organization interact and perform in the working environment.
Organizational behavior is important in many ways. OB helps to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of organizational goals by creating strategies or methods. For example, to build a good relationship in a team, they must have effective communication and aligned goal that helps to determine the direction of their work. For managers, they must have a management style where they can influence, lead and motivate their subordinates to do well. When it comes to conflicts or problems, OB helps to approach these things by understanding the main cause of it and creates preventive solutions. For example, when the subordinates are having different opinion or interest towards a certain task and they are also having difficulty in changing roles, this is where the management should take different views and clearly stated again the agreed upon roles and responsibilities. Mutual gain should be the basis of seeking resolution and ensure that good relationship is maintained.
2. What are the different environmental forces that redesigned management practices in most organizations?

Especially now that we are on a pandemic, the work-life balance of employees decreases. groups that seeks for help. This is where HR should understand the problem and help to implement effective strategies to cope up.
Globalization increases diversity in the organization. The changes in the operational environment shift the focus to the competencies, skills, and cultures of the people on how they perform their jobs. Since trade, investment and production expands, the influence of multinational companies can also be seen by changing their practices and improving their technology.
As we transform into the modern world, we also adapt to the changes in technology and creation of new products and services. Companies must understand the new trends that will able to satisfy the ongoing needs of the consumers or clients.
It is the agreed upon roles and expectations of both the employee and the organization. If the organization wants the employee to improve their performance, the employee should have given the opportunity to learn more by having career growth and development.
The advancement of technology creates an easier way to produce products and offer services. By also having equipment and internet, the employees can do their job efficiently and they were able to save more time than doing it in a traditional way.
In service economy, they value their customers. Since they are socially interacting, companies must give a good customer service and satisfaction so that they can also earn a good feedback and build trust from their customers.
Teamwork helps to improve the productivity and engagement of the employees in the organization. It is easier to create solutions from the problems and it keeps them motivated.
