Icebreaker

Before we start with the session, let's warm up a little with this icebreaker question: Copy a sticky note, then write your thoughts. Copy a sticky note, then write your thoughts. Copy a sticky note, then write your thoughts. Is Killing Someone an Appropriate way of teaching them a lesson? Time: 5 minutes

Due to the conflicts that might occur as a result of connecting to it, homicide is a particularly sensitive issue, and it is vital for a person to first understand more about its origins and current situations in order to be actively engaged in addressing it. Despite the fact that Canada's homicide rate is quite low, it is noteworthy to examine its large growth in the 1960s, its consistency in the 1970s and 1980s, and its reduction in the 1990s and until the present. Although there are numerous possibilities, it is likely that there has been a decrease in the number of people who are prone to commit homicide.

Homicide has a major detrimental influence on the lives of surviving family members, particularly children, aside from its immediate impact. Anxiety, despair, post-traumatic stress disorder, anger, guilt, and a sense of vulnerability are some of the psychological repercussions. Problems at school and at work are examples of socio-occupational impacts. Homicide may also cause families to face bills they cannot afford, such as funeral and legal fees. Families may be unable to cope financially if the victim was an earner. Homicide may create a sense of insecurity in society, and when it occurs at a high incidence in nations with weak, ineffective, and corrupt criminal justice systems, it can undermine social and economic progress.
