(a) State Taylors tool life equation and define each of the terms. (4 Marks)

(b) The following data was obtained from a cutting test:

(c) List the advantages and disadvantages of external centerless grinding. (4 Marks)

(d) Name FOUR cutting tool materials used in Industry today and list one typical application for each. (4 Marks)

(e) List and explain FOUR outcomes achieved by Honing. (4 Marks)

(a) The plug method is to be used to check the pitch diameter of a 36T tooth, 5mm module, 20 o^ Pressure angle spur gear, calculate (i) The plug size (ii) Distance over plugs placed in opposite spaces (iii) Distance over plugs spaced 10 teeth apart (12 Marks) Write a note on ONE of the following: Gear Burnishing Gear Shaving (8 Marks)

(b) Calculate the gear tooth vernier settings to measure a 33 Tooth, 2.5mm module, 20o pressure angle spur gear for tooth thickness for (i) Pitch Line (4 Marks) (ii) Constant chord (4 Marks)

(c) List FOUR advantages/disadvantages of Hot Working over Cold working. (4 Marks)
