Council Regulation № 1698/2005 on

support for rural development

The support envisaged in the framework of

Article 68(2) shall be used for:

 the establishment of structures needed to run the Network;

 the creation of an action plan which shall include activities related to:

  • network management;
  • the identification and analysis of good transferable practices and the

provision of information about them;

  • the organization of exchanges of experience and know-how;
  • the preparation of training programs for local action groups in the

process of formation;

  • technical assistance for inter-territorial and transnational cooperation;

Project “Sustainable Rural Development ” /SRD/

A PARTNERSHIP PROJECT BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY /MAF/, THE UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM /UNDP/ and 11 MUNICIPALITIES:

 Establishment and registration of 11 Local Leader Groups /LLG/

 Cooperation activities and exchange of practices – from 2003 to 2005

  • participation of LLGs’ representatives in PREPARE’s Annual Gathering in Slovakia and Hungary in 2003;
  • exchange of experience and joint activities of the LLG with 4 organizations under “Capacity 21” Project (UNDP) and establishment of an information exchange network among those 15 organizations (“Good Alternatives” NGO);
  • MAF and SRD Project – hosts and organizers of the 2004 Annual PREPARE Gathering, Chiflik village;
  • the main project activities for 2005 are Traveling Workshops among the different LLGs;

 Potential for partnership between :

- the government;

- municipal authorities;

- social and economic partners;

- non-governmental organizations;

 Ways for partnership realization and strengthening

Conference Results

Mission

 The mission of the Bulgarian Rural Development Network is to get together all organizations and individuals working on different levels of rural development in Bulgaria. The major task of the Network is to inform and educate its members and interested communities. The Network will coordinate and support of integrated development and specific rural development projects, and will represent the interests of its members on national and international level.

Objectives

 To facilitate the cooperation and communication among people and organizations in the rural regions for the purpose of achieving effective representation of their interests as well as for the purpose of structuring the information flow between governmental and non-governmental organizations from local to regional, national and international level;

 To be an equal partner in the process of creating legislation and policy for rural development.

Seven regional meetings were held in the six planning

regions:

 Sofia, MAF,12 October 2004: a total of 54 representatives of

governmental land non-governmental organizations took part

in the meeting;

 Vidin, 14 October 2004: 52 participants;

 Veliko Tarnovo, 20 October 2004: 68 participants;

 Varna, 21 October 2004: 73 participants;

 Stara Zagora, 27 October 2004: 51 participants;

 Yambol, 28 October 2004: 41 participants;

 Smolyan, 02 November 2004: 45 participants;

384 participants, 64 of whom have expressed their opinions
