  1. You are working in a lab and are studying a disease which is caused by an overactive enzyme called ACTIVE1. The crystal structure (atomic resolution) of the enzyme bound to its substrate has been solved. Describe how you could design a drug to inhibit this enzyme. What specific type of inhibitor would you create? - A drug that serves as a competitive inhibitor could stop the enzyme from being overactive. If the drug binds to the same active site as the enzyme and was structurally analogous to the substrate molecule so inhibition of the overactive enzyme can be fulfilled.
