The domestic violence and matrimonial proceedings act 1976, which amends the law relating to matrimonial injunctions and provides the police with powers of arrest for the breach of injunction in cases of domestic violence. The act also makes provisions for varying rights of occupation where both spouses have the same rights in the matrimonial home.
