ability to select between two or more alternatives to reach the best outcome. We have to learn how to make good decisions in today’s world. These decisions should be right and morally driven and should be based on our values and beliefs. This will ensure that there will be no feelings of regret after a decision has been made. How to improve decision- making Using a step-by-step decision-making process can help you make better, thoughtful decisions by organizing information and defining alternatives. This approach increases the chances that you will choose the most satisfying solutions possible. 5 Steps of Decision-Making Process Step 1: Identify your goal One of the best ways to make a good decision is to identify what is exactly the problem to be solved and why it needs to be solved. Step 2: Gather information It is best to gather necessary information related to the problem and to understand what needs to be done in solving the problem. Gathering information also makes room for listing down possible solutions to the problem. Step3: Consider the consequences This is an important step because it will allow you to review the pros and cons of the choices you listed down and find out how it will affect you and others. Step 4: Make your decision Now that you have identified your purpose, gathered all the necessary information, weighed the pros and cons, it’s time to make a choice and have the final decision. Step 5: Evaluate your decision After making the final decision and putting it into action, it is important to find out if it works or if it is favorable to you or to others. APPLICATION Directions: Here is another situation, read it. Then, fill in the graphic organizer with the process of your decision.

You are alone with your best friend at your best friend’s house. He/she goes to a drawer in his/her wardrobe and pulls out a pack of cigarettes. He/she lights up and invites you to do the same. What do you do? **__________________________________________

V. EVALUATION A.** Directions: Think of something that needs your decision right now. Then, using the 5 steps in decision-making, write a ten-sentence paragraph about how you are going to make the decision needed. **______________________________________________

B.** Directions: Read this situation and list down your own decisions. ''June was one point away from a passing grade in his English class. The final exam was tomorrow, and he had studied very well. Her friend Melissa offered to sit next to her during the test to help her out.'' If you were June, what do you do? **______________________________________________
