"Deixis Analysis on Zootopia Movie Script: A Pragmatic Study " by I Wayan Budiarta &

Summary :
This study discusses the deixis analysis of movie scripts. Which, this is the background of
the researcher's interest in literacy, especially movie scripts. This study aims to analyze the types
of deixis in the movie script Zootopia. This study uses two approaches, namely quantitative and
qualitative descriptive approaches. The data used in this study is the movie script Zootopia.
Overall, this study only focuses on the analysis of the types of deixis in each movie scene. In this
movie, there are 41 scenes but only 15 scenes were selected as data analysis. The data is
presented in the form of tables and diagrams which are used to present the tendency of deixis
used in the Zootopia movie script. The results show that the type of person is deixis 664 total
finding data , discourse deixis 65 total finding data, time deixis 57 total finding data, spatial
deixis 16 total finding data, and for social deixis, researcher found only one category that is
partner. In conclusion, there are all types of deixis found in the movie script Zootopia, especially
the type of time deixis found in various types of temporal categories as many as 29 expressions
such as next time, tomorrow, today, before noon, later, then, soon, once a month, since, three
hundred days, sixty five days, five years, six years and a thousand years (Budiarta, et al, 2021).
Advantage :
Researchers used two research methods in their writing. It is hoped that research can
produce more comprehensive facts in uncovering problems / phenomena.
Researchers have the freedom to use all data collection tools and use any type of data
needed. This can be seen from the findings and discussion consisting of descriptions,
tables and diagrams which contain a lot of finding data.
