A research study conducted by burhanudin rais1 & sulis triyono2, published on may 16, 2019, focusing on the pragmatic features and speech acts in the video of the presidential debate between prabowo and jokowi. The researchers followed searle's theory to categorize illocutionary acts, including assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. The study found 83 illocutionary acts in the video, with assertive being the most common and commissive the least.

The researchers are interested in conducting research to find pragmatic features of this video. In particular, the researcher will focus on speech acts in the illocutionary category, here the researcher also conducts research by following the illocutionary act category based on Searle's theory. There are 83 illocutionary acts in the video. The most commonly found is assertive with 41 or 49%, and the lowest is commissive with 1 or 1%. Directive acts were found in 14 utterances or 17%, expressive acts were found in 17 utterances or 20% and declarative acts were found in 11 utterances or 13%.
