1. OBJECTIVES (Indicator 7 – learning process) Knowledge Describe the harmful effects of drinking alcohol. Skills Arrange a picture puzzle which depicts the negative effects of alcohol drinking. Attitude Internalize the harmful effects of alcohol drinking. Values Promote awareness in using alcohol for the welfare of mankind. 2. CONTENT The Dangers of Alcohol 3. LEARNING RESOURCES Print-out pictures (Indicator 8 - ICT Usage) (Indicator 7 - teaching process) Activity Materials/Sheet Physical Education and Health 8 pp. 383- 386 MAPEH in Action pp. 376- 381 4. PROCEDURES 4.1 Introductory Activity/Motivation (Opening Prayer and Attendance Checking) Show pictures to the class. Let the class observe the picture and ask them to give their ideas about the picture being shown. 4.2. Activity/Strategy Picture Puzzle Group Activity: Students are seated with their group already. Each group is given strips of cut pictures and arrange them into its original form. After each group have arranged the pictures, let the group post their work on the board. A representative for each group will give a brief description for the assigned picture. 4.3 Analysis Oral questioning : 1. What have you observed from the different pictures posted by each group? 2. Based on the pictures you have seen, what do you think are the possible effects of an alcohol? 3. Have you encountered a drunk man on the street or have seen a person suffering from diseases caused by too much alcohol? Share any experiences. (Indicator 6 - differentiated learning experiences) 4. In your own point of view, is it really important to drink alcoholic drinks? Why or why not? (Indicator 3 – HOTS) 5. Do you know how many people are drinking alcohol? Or do you know how many people suffered from any ailments or diseases acquired through alcohol drinking? (Indicator 2 – numeracy) Note : Encourage participation and volunteerism from the students. 4.4 Abstraction Discussion Proper (Indicator 1 – within the subject area) What is an alcohol? Alcohol is composed of what chemical contents? (Indicator 1 – Across- Science) (Indicator 2 – literacy) Discuss the type of alcohol used in beverages. What do alcohol do to your body? What are the effects of alcohol drinking?
Why is it important for us to know the different effects of alcohol to our health? 4.5 Application Group Activity (Indicator 4 - engage learners) Same groupings. Representative from the group will pick a situation (drawn-by-lot) from the box. They will be given 3 minutes for their preparation and 2 minutes for their presentation. Situation 1: The effects of alcohol to human body Situation 2: Alternative hobbies that replace alcohol drinking Rubrics in rating: (Indicator 5 – rubrics) Content Clarity - 25 points Group Cooperation - 10 points Presentation - 15 points 50 points 4.6 Assessment Individual Task (Paper-pencil test) (Indicator 9 - formative test) Students will be given an individual evaluation.
