Classroom Action Research
Talking about Classroom Action Research, we knew that it has definition, purposes,
steps, and also types. In addition, each definition, purposes, steps and types might have
different points of view. Therefore, this paper will discuss and compare the definition and
purpose of classroom action research from different points of view. To elaborate more,
according to the presenter from the video presentation, the definition of Classroom Action
Research (CAR) is a research done by the teacher in the class or in the teaching place that
focuses on the refinement process of learning. Additionally, the presenter also mentioned
that classroom research action can be a tool for teachers to do problem solving that is
emerging in the class in order to improve teachers' teaching analytics skills. Otherwise,
(Wongwanich, 2017) defined classroom action research as the most important thing for
teachers to develop teaching management and students' systematically.
Furthermore, for the purposes of classroom action research according to the presenter
it has 4 purposes, that are first improve the quality of content, input, and process, and
learning outcomes in school. Second, helping teachers to solve the problems inside or
outside the classroom. Third, improve the professional attitude of teachers. Fourth,
developing the academics in the school environments to create proactives attitude in
making continuous improvement to the quality of education. Meanwhile, the purpose of
classroom action research mentioned by (Wongwanich, 2017) can be a platform for teachers
to develop their professional development for developing pedagogy, both theory and practice
by using classroom action research.
To sum up, classroom action research is a platform or a tool for teachers to solve the
problems that happened in the classroom in order to improve teachers' teaching analytics
skills. Besides, classroom action research can also improve students in learning. In other
words, classroom action research becomes the method for teachers to improve teaching in
the classroom, dapartment, or even school. By doing several steps to conduct classroom
action research, the goals of classroom action research that is to improve teaching and
learning process will be achieved.
