Lewin's Change Theory - ✔Focuses on how a change agent can guide the change process. This is referred to as planned change. Second perspective focuses on the process by which people and social systems make changes. Both of these perspectives provide a framework for understanding how people react to change in guiding the change process. Shannon Weaver's Communication Model - ✔Provides an excellent framework for analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of information transfer and communication. Formally established in 1948 with the publication of the landmark paper The Mathematical Theory of Communication The sender is the originator of the message or the information source. The transmitter is the encoder that converts the content of the message to a code. The code can be letters, words, music, symbols, or a computer code. The cable is the channel, or the medium used to carry the message. Each channel has its own physical limitations in terms of the size of the message that can be carried. Noise is anything that is not part of the message but occupy space on the channel and is transmitted with the message. The decoder converts the message to a format that can be understood by the receiver. When listening to a phone call, the telephone is a decoder. It converts the signal back into soundwaves that is understood as words by the person listening. The person listening to the words is the Destination. Nelson & Staggers SLC Model - ✔Depicts the life cycle as a spiral.
In this stage the new system is in place, and forces resistant to change or encouraged. If managed effectively by the change agent, this phase is characterized by increased stability. Examples include training programs for new employees, yearly review of all policies and procedures related to the new system, and continued recognition for those who become experts with the new system. SLC Model (Systems Life Cycle) - ✔This model is used in project management to describe stages or phases of informatics project and it guides system implementation from initial feasibility through a more completed stage of maintenance and evaluation of the products.
