Background of the Study A comprehensive healthcare management system is a computer-based system that supports the management of healthcare providers, healthcare products, user information, ratings and reviews, user appointments, healthcare associated services, loyalty reward points, and healthcare-related crowd funding. It also provides real-time information about healthcare providers and practitioners near the user (Shrivastava & Srikanth, 2023). The system aims to improve the quality of comprehensive health services by providing access to patient data in digital format, making it easier for medical officers to track patient data and obtain patient health information (Arun, Kumar & Augustin, 2016). Additionally, Kenett and Lavi (2018) defined that a comprehensive management system for medical equipment can be implemented to manage the daily work of a hospital, enhance work efficiency, and improve system operation efficiency. Comprehensive healthcare management in veterinary teaching hospitals plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient delivery of veterinary services. The management of healthcare processes encompasses various facets, including patient care, treatment planning, resource allocation, and administrative tasks (Epitizone, Moyane, & Agbehadji, 2023). As the demand for high-quality veterinary healthcare services continues to rise, there is an imperative need to streamline and modernize the existing healthcare management systems within veterinary teaching hospitals (LaVallee, Muelle, & McCobb, 2017).
The current landscape of veterinary teaching hospital management involves manual processes, creating inefficiencies and challenges in delivering optimal healthcare services. Similar to the challenges faced in health information systems, almost every registration happens digitally and digitization in healthcare is rising. Only a few decades back, the first transition was made from the paper-based record to the electronic health record (Tummers, J. et al, 2021). This manual approach is not only time-consuming but also prone to errors, delays, and increased stress levels among both the healthcare providers and the patients (Haas, O. et al, 2021). According to Stoumpos, A. et al (2023) the advent of technology, coupled with the increasing reliance on online platforms, underscores the necessity for an advanced and automated Veterinary Teaching Hospital Comprehensive Healthcare Management System. The shift towards a more digitalize system aligns with the current generation's dependence on online tools and platforms for information and services. As veterinary healthcare providers and institutions strive to meet the evolving needs of patients and optimize internal processes, the development of a web-based comprehensive healthcare management system becomes paramount (Hernandez, E. et al, 2018). The integration of a veterinarian client information system into veterinary teaching hospitals represents a significant step in managing client and patient information efficiently. These systems simplify appointment scheduling, patient record management, billing, and communication with pet owners, thereby enhancing the quality of service delivery and operational workflows. In the context of veterinary medicine, such systems not only improve administrative efficiency but also contribute to better health outcomes by ensuring that critical
healthcare management. The transformation and digitization currently confronting healthcare underscore the significant potential of these systems to improve service delivery and operational efficiency (Epitizone et al., 2023). The integration of Hospital Information Systems (HIS) within veterinary teaching hospitals marks a critical advancement, simplifying patient records management and reporting processes, thereby facilitating a more coordinated and efficient healthcare delivery system (Randeree, E., 2018). Furthermore, the deployment of Automated Inventory Management Systems (AIMS) in veterinary hospitals underscores the importance of leveraging technology to streamline inventory management processes. These systems not only reduce inventory costs and improve stock control but also enhance operational efficiency, contributing significantly to better financial management and patient care (Patel, S., & Smith, R., 2019). Therefore, the focus of this proposed study is to develop an efficient and reliable web- based Veterinary Teaching Hospital Comprehensive Healthcare Management System. This system aims to simplify healthcare processes for hospital staff, encompassing patient information management, inventory, and sales. By overcoming the limitations of existing manual methods with technology-driven solutions, the proposed system will eliminate delays, reduce stress, and provide a transparent and effective means for veterinary students and staff to manage healthcare processes seamlessly. The anticipated outcome is a modernized healthcare management system that aligns with the demands of contemporary veterinary practices, ultimately enhancing the quality of care and services provided by veterinary teaching hospitals.
