Data Communication and Networking Task 1: Define following network terminologies: EIA/TIA 568A and 568B standards: 568A and 568B are the standard colour codes for telecommunication standards. Although there is no such difference between both. They just differ in he placement of orange and green wires. They are helping in creating crossover wire and straight-thru wire. If one end is 568A and other is 568B its called crossover while if both ends have same standard that will be known as straight-thru. Colour combination of straight and cross Ethernet cable There are 2 colour combinations known as 568A and 568B respectively in which placement of green and orange are switched only. For Straight-thru: both ends of the wire needs to be the same standard either 568A or 568B. While, For Crossover: both end of the wire needs to be different standards means if one side is 568A than other needs to be 568B. Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) & Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) Unshielded Twisted Pair is the type of twisted pair cable which does not have extra coating and it is relatively cheaper than STP and it transfer low Data rate than STP. While STP is a costly twisted pair cable, it requires more maintenance than the UTP. Straight Through and Cross-over Ethernet Cable Straight Through Wires are the cables in which both ends of the cable have same pattern of pins. This is most common type of connection used for client-host connection. It is also used to connect peripherals like printer, router, etc to the computer. Cross-over wired cables are somewhat opposite to straight-through in which both ends of the cable are different standards i.e. 568A and 568B. This method is used to connect two hosts directly which is computer to computer. RJ-45 connector
What are precautionary measures to be taken care of while dealing with the ethernet cables (setting up ethernet cable wiring)
