SMART STREET LIGHT SYSTEM
ABSTRACT: Power is a basic requirement for modern world, which is still not properly
available to many of the outskirts of some regions. Today, power is being consumed over its
requirement. To save power and give a start to eco world, this project is an initiative. We
observed that our Street lights (Conventional) which used much amperes of current over its actual
requirement, so we sketched a system out of our knowledge to save power.
This one we named it as, Smart Street Light System. For the prototype we have used a
Microcontroller (ATMEL 328P), an LDR (Light Detecting Resistor), IR (Infrared Sensor) and
Comparator (DUAL OPAMP LM358) as main components. This system detects the Obstacle
(implying a vehicle) and increases the intensity of light, with a minimum intensity of night time
running lights which also goes OFF in Bright Daylight. This system has a minimum efficiency of
39.61% (As per calculations based on certain conditions*). If implemented in the real world
with LED outlets this can have efficiency up to 16% (on paper).
