“A World Without Hunger” Have you ever imagined a world free from hunger? A world where you can't see a food scarcity rally, nor a beggar that is stretching his arms- needing a penny from your purse to sustain his appetite. Or just simply wondered what will be your life- our lives living a world without hunger? And why world hunger is a problem? World hunger is a phenomenon - a problem that burdens our lives, each and every single day. When people go through entire days without eating for of numerous factors such a lack of money, access to food, or other resources. Change doesn’t happen overnight. There’s no button that’s pushed to magically alter everything. It happens little by little. Day by day. One step at a time. And as an agriculture student and future agriculturist, I have the power to make a change. I have few ideas in mind, including educational seminars and food pantry. The most effective way is to conduct educational seminars in my community regarding sustainable farming which integrates three main goals- environmental health, economic profitability and social and economic equity. The fundamentals and proper methods of farming as well as a bag full of seeds crop to give them hands-on experience. The second one is food pantry. I ‘d like to organize a clean-up drive with the assistance of local government units (LGU) and willing individuals- choosing mainly plastics, bottles and tin cans and in that way, we can start a food pantry and sell it in a cheapest price. The process cycle circulates. I didn’t just help my community but also the environment. When I picture a world without hunger, I see lightness, by which I mean a human lightness, playfulness. Human beings in that world will find it easy and joyful to care for each other. No one will have to worry about anyone on the other side of the world, because people will be taking care of each other near at hand. When hunger is ended, instead of single notes beaming out of each of us, there will be a symphony — we will see that each one of us is fascinating. I see a world with harmony, a world where children play gleefully, a world where smiles plastered in people’s faces, a world where food isn’t a cause of wars and finally a world where we can live on. However, to glimpse even for a moment a world without hunger can deepen the hurt of living in a world where hunger is a daily reality. World hunger will always be like a sentence without a period. A race without an end or looking in an endless ocean- wondering what awaits you in the edge of it. It exists and will always remain a world problem. But together, one step at a time, we can make a brighter world. A plan can make a difference. A simple action can change thousands of lives. This change only depends on us- whether we do or die. It’s a matter of taking risk and lead on a road for a brighter world.
