Synthesis Social media effects. Social media has a lot of effects in students, some of this is students has better memory when they frequently use social media. Juice academy(2018) says that research shown that students who are frequently users of social media are more innovative and exhibit better memory. It opens up new avenues for researching, encouraging students to get creative and think outside the box. However. Social media also has a bad effects on students special in their mental health. Eema Ibrahim(2018)says that most common issues associated with college students mental and social media use is depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, body image, sleeping problems, social isolation, and emotional defficulties. About 41.6% of college students have stated that anxiety is a top concern. Social media affects also the life of students ecole admin(2020) says that many students have accepted that social media is their primary source of communication with other people. 43% of the students in grade 9-12 have admitted that they use social media to send and receive messeges from their classmates and friends. Ecole admin(2020) also says that IT’S UNSTOPPABLE.Boarding schools have laid strict restictions on the usage of mobile devices, but 63% of the students use them anyway. They fin it irresistible and more addicted to its usage.
Purposes and benefits of using tiktok Application. According to (Shutsko,2020) TikTok had probably the most talked-of video sharing platform of 2019, similar to its twin service for the Chinese market, called Douyin. We cannot deny that other applications or social media flatforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube are very popular.But since Musical.ly was replaced and recreate it to Tiktok, it has become better known than other social media applications.But even though the Tiktok application is well -known, it does not match the well -known Facebook and Youtube application according to (Shutsko,2020). According to (Erizal,2021) in the current pandemic, there are a lot of users of the tiktok application, ranging from those who only watch to become tiktok creators.Many people or young people use it because they do nothing in their homes.Due to the pandemic, this application became even more popular. In this day and age, social media has become one of the most widely used things by people, especially teenagers, social media is online media that contains social interaction. Social media uses web-based technology that turns communication into interactive. Some of the most popular social media sites today include: Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the current trend is Tiktok (Erizal,2021).
CHAPTER 3 Research methodology Research methodology is the specific procedures or techniques used to identify, select, process, and analyze information about a topic. In a research paper, the methodology section allows the reader to critically evaluate a study's overall validity and reliability. This chapter will tackle about the methodology of this research. It will also tackle the tools, techniques and instruments that the researcher will use. This are the following: Research Design, Research Setting Participants, Research Instruments, Sampling techniques, Data collection and Procedure and Data Analysis
Research Design The researcher will conduct a quantitative research and use both explanatory and descriptive research design. The descriptive research design involves using a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect data that aids in accurately describing a research problem. (voxco ,nd) Descriptive research aims to accurately and systematically describe a population, situation or phenomenon. It can answer what, where, when and how questions, but not why questions. A descriptive research design can use a wide variety of research methods to investigate one or more variables. Unlike in experimental research, the researcher does not control or manipulate any of the variables, but only observes and measures them.( Shona McCombes 2019). The research use this design to describe the gathered data and explain the ideas like combining small pieces into one and interpret it as one.
Sampling Techniques This research will use the simple random sampling technique to gather data and information from the respondents. The simple random sampling is a technique where every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected (Shona McCombes, 2021). The researchers will randomly choose numbers from the population who use Tiktok to answer the survey questions, and gather the information afterwards. Research Instruments The researchers will use an online survey through google forms to gather data and information from the respondents. Thereafter, the data will be collected for analysis and interpretation.
Data Analysis Percentage Formula Percentage is calculated by taking the frequency in the category divided by the total number of participants and multiplying by 100% (Katrina A. Korb, 2013) Table 1 Do you consider that all of contents on Tiktok are reliable? Number of Respondents percentage yes 11 27. no 29 72. Total 40 100%
Table 3 Does Tiktok affects your studies? Number of Respondents Percentage Yes 15 22. No 9 77. Total 40 100% 3)YES P% = Y/X P% = 15/ p = 0. P% = 0.625 * 100 = 62.5%
p = 0. P% = 0.375 * 100 = 37.5%
Table 4 Does helps you to improve your studies? Number of Respondents Percentage Yes 18 45 No 22 55 Total 40 100% 4)YES P% = Y/X P% = 18/ p = 0. P% = 0.45 * 100 = 45%
p = 0. P% = 0.55 * 100 = 55%
