Candidate Performance on CCEB Examinations

Reporting period: October 2015 to June 2016

This report is on the performance of candidates from UWS from October 2015 to June 2016 on the

Component A, B and C Examinations administered by the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board

(CCEB). It provides a summary of candidates from UWS, along with comparisons to other candidates.

Pass Rates for Content Areas and Case Presentation charts provide data for first-time writers only.

First-time writers are the best indicator of performance on the exams For colleges with only one

candidate, pass rates are not provided per content area to protect the privacy of the candidates.

However, we have included information regarding repeat candidates in the General Statistics charts. As

a rule, the more repeat candidates there are, the lower the overall pass rate will be on any exam. This

is because candidates who fail an exam once are more likely to fail again.

All failing candidates are provided with a Performance Report with a similar breakdown to this report.

Not surprisingly, there is a direct correlation between candidate GPA and success rates on the

examinations. Candidates with a GPA over 3.0 do extremely well whereas those with a GPA under 2.

tend to have a significantly lower probability of success. Not all GPAs are calculated in the same

manner by the various DC Programs.

The pass score is set using the Modified Angoff process on each individual item and not by the overall

content area.

As of October 2010, CCEB exams have been based on a new blueprint. In October 2013 and February

2015, the blueprint was revised and minor changes were made to remain current with Canadian

practice. Information on exam content can be found on the website at http://www.cceb.ca/study-guides-

instructions/.

I trust this information may be of assistance to you.

Sincerely,

Patricia D. Frank
